Our new Community Safety Officers (CSO’s) pilot scheme is here to provide additional support for businesses and help create a safer, more welcoming town centre.

Launching on Friday 25th September, our BID-funded initiative will see two dedicated Community Safety Officers patrolling the town centre during key evening and weekend periods, with a particular focus on tackling anti-social behaviour and supporting businesses operating within the night-time economy.

The pilot will run for an initial three months, with feedback from businesses and stakeholders helping to shape the future of the scheme.

What Will the Community Safety Officers Do?

The Community Safety Officers will provide a highly visible presence in the town centre, acting as an additional resource for businesses, employees and visitors.

Their role will include:

The officers are there to help businesses address issues as they arise and to strengthen confidence in Cheltenham’s town centre, particularly during peak trading periods.

Patrol Hours

The officers will be on duty during the following times:

Friday 4:00pm to 4:00am

Saturday 12:00pm to 4:00am

Sunday 10:00am to 6:00pm

Coverage will also be incorporated into key Bank Holiday periods where appropriate.

Supporting Cheltenham’s Night-Time Economy

A safe and welcoming environment is essential for businesses, residents and visitors alike. This pilot has been designed to provide practical support where it is needed most, helping businesses feel supported and improving confidence in the town centre during evenings and weekends.

As the pilot progresses, we will work closely with businesses and partners to gather feedback, assess its impact and explore opportunities for longer-term delivery.

This pilot has been fully funded and managed by us as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting local businesses and enhancing the town centre experience.
