Escape Hunt unlocks doors to Cheltenham venue at Brewery Quarter

Sunday December 6, 2020

Escape Hunt UK finally unlocked the doors to their newest UK venue at the Brewery Quarter on Friday 4 December and Alex Boulton visited the new BID business as one of the first teams to try their popular escape rooms in Cheltenham.

Trip Advisor’s Travellers’ Choice 2020 winners, Escape Hunt has nearly 50 locations across 27 countries. It has opened four escape rooms in Cheltenham, as well as a virtual reality room and an outdoor experience that allows players to explore the town.

The escape rooms available are:

  • Alice in Puzzleland
  • Aladdin
  • Our Finest Hour
  • A Dalek Awakens

Located between Tesco Express and Creams Café, we walked into Escape Hunt to find a luxurious and comfortable waiting area. After a thorough and informative briefing, we were directed to a set of lockers to securely store our belongings as no phones are allowed in the escape rooms.

We played the Aladdin room and were given an hour to find the magical lamp and escape. Impeccably designed as a mystical cave with the music, sounds and clues to match, it truly felt like we had been dropped in Aladdin’s cave. Despite this immersion, it is worth pointing out that you can leave at any point if you need a drink or the toilet.

With warnings of being trapped for eternity fresh in our minds, we managed to solve the puzzles and quests with five minutes to spare. Although we have been asked not to share the secrets of our escape, it involved solving a wide variety of well-thought-out and challenging puzzles, with something to appeal to every person in our group.

From start to end, the customer service and experience was impeccable. Despite it being his first day on the job, Jake worked tirelessly as our Games Master, briefing and debriefing us and giving us helpful and creative clues over the speaker when we needed them.

With teams of between two and six players, Escape Hunt offers the perfect day or night out for your household or social bubble. With a range of measures, including online check-in, hand sanitiser points, deep cleaning between every game, compulsory mask-wearing and the provision of optional gloves, we felt completely safe and were able to relax into and enjoy our new world for an hour. We can’t wait to head back and escape to and from the worlds offered by the other rooms.

With their new Christmas Snowman Search, customers can also scan the QR code found on the mini snowmen at Escape Hunt Cheltenham to win a discount code.

Overall, Escape Hunt is another excellent addition to the Brewery, an area of Cheltenham quickly filling up with the recent arrival of The Alchemist and the upcoming openings of F45 fitness studio and the restaurant chain Hubbox.
